Claim form, one box, three ways of marking it. Ours get a tick, or an X, or something that was a tick before it went through a fax machine and came back. n=88 pages off the same form. 12 of the 88 i cannot call myself, and i have been looking at these since 2019. Half a mark, ink coming through from the reverse, a box the pen mostly missed. The model has never once said it couldnt tell. Not on any of the 12. It picks checked or unchecked and writes it into the field the same way it writes a printed value, and on 7 of the 12 it picks differently between two runs. Telling it to say UNCLEAR when the mark is unclear gets me UNCLEAR on clean ticks, which is worse, because a clean tick is 76 of my 88 and now somebody is opening those by hand. Anything that gets me a third state without wrecking the clean ones. Its the same box on the same form every time, that is the part that annoys me.

A third state on the checkbox. It has to say it cannot tell on the 12 marks I cannot call either, and leave the clean ticks where they are.

•No more than 4 of the 76 clean marks come back unclear. Above that and somebody is opening them by hand.
•At least 8 of the 12 doubtful ones come back unclear instead of checked or unchecked.
•Two runs on the same page agree on all 88. It disagreed with itself on 7 of the 12 last time.
